Information We Collect

MilitaryCampgrounds.info does not require visitors to create an account or provide personal information simply to use the campground directory.

If you voluntarily contact us or submit information through a form, we may receive information such as your name, email address, website address, or other information you choose to provide.

We may also collect basic technical information automatically, including browser type, device type, approximate location, pages visited, referring websites, and similar usage information.

Community Member Accounts

Creating a free community account requires a username, public display name, first name, last name, email address, ZIP code and password. A phone number is optional. Email verification is required. Passwords are stored as secure hashes rather than readable passwords.

We use member contact information to provide account access, verify email addresses, operate submitted reviews and corrections, communicate about account security and moderation, and support the community. ZIP codes may help us understand the general geographic distribution of members; they are not published with reviews. First and last names, email addresses and phone numbers are not displayed publicly. Your chosen display name may appear beside approved contributions.

The site owner may suspend a member’s sign-in access or permanently delete an account. Owner deletion removes personal profile details and credentials immediately, removes unpublished contributions, and retains approved reviews and photos credited to Former Member. Prior private profile-change values are redacted; limited administrative event records and reasons may remain for security and dispute handling, and ordinary backups may persist until rotation.

Authorized site administrators may view private member contact details for account support and may correct profile information or suspend accounts. Administrative changes require password confirmation and are recorded in a private audit history, including the changed fields, previous and updated values, the administrator and the reason. These records are restricted to administrators and retained as needed for security, support and dispute resolution. Contact us to request correction or removal of personal information in these records.

Members can choose whether to receive occasional site-update emails and change that preference in their profile. We may still send essential service and security messages regardless of this preference. We do not sell member personal information.

Campground reviews and attached campground photos are reviewed before publication. Once approved, the public may see the chosen display name, submitted review text, rating and approved photos. Avoid including private information or sensitive installation details in submissions. Site moderators may access pending submissions and privately stored photos to review them.

New campground photo submissions include a photo-use notice below the submission button. By submitting photos under that notice, uploaders confirm that they own the photos or are authorized to grant permission, and grant MilitaryCampgrounds.info a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free license to use and edit them for operating or promoting the site, including advertising, newsletters, social media and other promotional materials, without further approval or payment. Uploaders retain ownership. We keep a private record of the notice version, submission date and associated photo identifiers. This expanded permission does not apply automatically to earlier uploads or profile photos.

Members may upload a public profile photo that appears beside their name. Profile photos appear immediately without prior approval. Images are resized and re-encoded, and embedded metadata is removed. Members may replace or remove their profile photo. Profile photos are removed when an account is permanently deleted; approved campground reviews and campground photos are retained as described below.

Signed-in members may download a JSON export of their account details and submission records from the profile page. The export includes photo metadata, not the underlying photo files. Members can request account deactivation from their profile, with password confirmation. Their access is disabled immediately and they may request a verification email to reactivate within 30 days. After 30 days, our scheduled cleanup process is intended to anonymize account details and remove unpublished submissions, while retaining approved campground reviews, ratings, corrections and photographs under the attribution Former Member. This automatic process must be activated and tested before it is offered publicly. To request removal of personal information in a photograph or review, or another correction to personal data, use our contact information below. Limited records may remain where required for legal, safety or abuse-prevention reasons; backups may be retained until their rotation. Records in ordinary backups may persist until backup rotation or secure deletion.

We retain member details while the account remains active, and review submission and moderation records as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes and protect against abuse. We will review retention practices as the community grows; no fixed automatic deletion period is currently promised.

Cookies and Advertising

MilitaryCampgrounds.info may use cookies and similar technologies to improve the website, understand visitor activity, and provide advertising.

We may use Google AdSense or other advertising services to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies may allow it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to MilitaryCampgrounds.info and other websites.
